God Is Amazing!

God is Amazing! (Written by Tim Klink of Prison Discipleship Ministry)
John 9:25
“… one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
Some time ago, God gave me a gift that I thought I would never receive in this lifetime. I have had to wear eyeglasses ever since I was in the third grade, and believe me, that is a lot of years! One of the “benefits” of getting older is developing cataracts in your eyes. I remember my grandma having her cataracts removed when I was a kid. She was in the hospital for a few days, and had to have sandbags to hold her head perfectly still. She still had to wear glasses, but she said it was “better than going blind,” which looking back, didn’t really say much.
After a few initial office visits to get the preliminaries out of the way, I went to the surgery center where I was treated like royalty, “buzzed up”, zap, zap, given a cup of coffee and some crackers, and sent on my way home. Less than two hours, and it was finished. After the dilation calmed down, I tried reading my Bible program on my smart phone, and to my great thankfulness, I could see it perfectly. God has given me what they call “mono-vision,” which means that my one eye sees close up, and the other distance. I am halfway to tossing the glasses out the window!!
The feeling of great thankfulness reminded me of the Easter Sunday evening in 1965 when I knelt at an altar and told Jesus how sorrowful I was for my sin, and invited Him to be my Saviour. The gift of salvation can’t compare to getting cataracts removed, but where I was once blinded by my sin, because of Jesus I now can see God’s love for me in a much clearer way.
Before the cataract was removed, everything had a yellowish tint to it that I was not aware of. The brightness I now see is amazing, just as when the penalty and control of sin was removed in my life. I could see the brilliance of Jesus. I didn’t realize the darkness sin had on my life until it was gone.
