God Wants You To Love
And He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
As Christians, we sometimes overlook the importance of love. Jesus never did that. Everything boils down to love for Him. Loving others is necessary for the followers of Jesus. It’s not an option.
If you think that being a follower of Jesus just means believing all the right stuff, you are going about it all wrong. Satan believes all the right stuff but that doesn’t make him a follower of Jesus, does it?
Being a follower of Christ means giving of yourself to meet the needs of others. It means loving others as yourself, putting them first, loving them when it is hard, not just when it is easy.
“We love because He loved us.” “They will know you are My disciples by your love.” “Now abide these three; faith, hope and love ... but the greatest of these is love.” Those are all quotes taken directly from God’s Word.
So, being a Christian means that you have encountered the True And Living God and that you have undergone a change in your heart and soul. You are no longer controlled by your passions and desires. It means that you live others with a love that God has given to you for that very purpose.
Jesus never said that the world would know us by our tithing or our church attendance. They won’t know us by our cars and houses or by the way we dress and comb our hair. They’ll know us. Y our love for one another.
“By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Do people know that you are a Christian? Can they tell just by watching you? Now there’s something to think about for a while.
