Hello! (By Tim Klink)

Hello! (By Tim Klink of Prison Discipleship Ministry)

Have you ever tried to call the President of the United States? Good luck with that one! How about the Governor of your state? Or maybe the Mayor of your town? You may get through to that one, but you will probably need to go through other people first.

With the invention of automated answering systems, calling the doctor can be a real adventure. Just trying to place a call to a friend or family member can often be a process with all of our insanely busy schedules. And then there is Caller ID. Knowing who is calling gives you an option to answer or not, which is even more frustrating when you are trying to speak to someone.

I am so thrilled that I can talk to God any hour of the day or night, and never get a busy signal, or an automated voice mail system. “If this is an emergency prayer, please press 1. To speak with a representative, press 2.” That will never happen … God promises!

Consider Who it is we have the privilege of speaking with; the God of the universe! This is The One And Only God, who holds everything together with His Word. This is The One And Only God, who is hearing and answering the prayers of countless millions of people every minute of every day. And yet, when you or I call upon Him, He takes our call personally … every time!

Jeremiah 33:3
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

Why then are we so hesitant to pray? Why is it that we think that we are somehow capable of handling our situation ourselves? Too often we entertain the attitude, “If all else fails, pray.” Where does that type of thinking come from? It certainly is not from God!

There probably is not one other person on the face of the earth that would invite you to talk with them constantly, never stopping. But God, in His unconditional love for us has invited us to do just that.

1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing.”

Your accessibility to the One who knows all things, keeps all things, directs all things, and loves you beyond anything you can even imagine bids you to call upon Him.

Right now.
