How Do You Walk With Jesus?

It comes as a surprise to some people when they learn that walking with Jesus is not a simple analogy or a figure of speech. When you become a Christian, you have to follow Jesus. That means you have to actually walk the walk and follow Jesus with your hands and feet, not just with your thinking and feeling.
It’s easy to be a believer in God and it’s easy to have strong feelings for Him. If being a Christian were just a matter of believing all the right stuff, Satan would be a Christian! James 1:19 says that demons believe the right stuff. In fact, they even tremble because of it.
Being a Christian is more than believing. It is following Him. It is making the decision to be more like Him, taking His Teaching seriously and letting Jesus change your heart. It means becoming a new creature who lives every day for Him, instead of for ourselves.
1 John 2:5-6
"Whoever keeps His word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in Him: whoever says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same way in which He walked."
How do we do that? There is a 4 step plan that I preach to others. That plan is:
Read your Bible every day.
Pray meaningful prayer.
Commit yourself to a good church.
Keep with good friends and get rid of the bad influences.
The Bible is your daily bread and you should treat it like you do food and water. Thirst and hunger for the Word.
Prayer is not a “give me” list. It is quiet time with God, to draw near and cultivate your relationship with Him.
A church is vital to your spiritual growth. God places you among His people, not just for your benefit but for theirs, too. God wants you worshiping Him with others and ministering to them in fellowship. Surround yourself with other believers and watch your life change.
