I had fully planned on a different message for today but God has put something different on my plate. The Christian world has suffered a great loss this week. Charles Stanley has gone to be with Our Lord.
“The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.”
Dr. Stanley was one of the greats. Billy Graham was the greatest evangelist I’ve ever seen, RC Sproul the greatest theologian and John MacArthur the best teacher but Charles Stanley was the consummate Pastor. His demeanor, his calm voice, the incredible insight that he had and his complete and utter commitment to the Word of God will always stand out as an example for me of what I should be as a pastor.
In his 91 years on this earth, Dr. Stanley touched people in a way others could only hope to accomplish. His “In Touch” ministry has been translated into 50 languages, broadcast on over 500 radio stations and aired on 300 television stations. His way of simplifying the complex doctrines of the Bible has helped millions of believers to grow closer to God.
Dr. Stanley was special. The church will miss him but I look forward to seeing him face to face some day. That will be a beautiful moment!
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.”
