The Last Days According To Jesus - Nation Against Nation (Mt 24:7) Pt. 5
“…his heart will be lifted up, and he will cause tens of thousands to fall; yet he will not prevail. For the king of the North will again raise a greater multitude than the former, and after an interval of some years he will press on with a great army and much equipment.”
Both Ezekiel and Daniel describe Magog as attacking from the north. Daniel called Gog the “king of the North” and described an alliance which will also include a “king of the south.” (Daniel 11:5-35)
The armies of Gog (Rosh, Mesheck and Tubal), will be joined by the armies of the south in a great coalition against God’s people:
Ezekiel 38:5-6, 9
“Persia, Ethiopia and Put with them, all of them with shield and helmet; Gomer with all its troops; Beth-togarmah from the remote parts of the north with all its troops—many peoples with you … You will go up, you will come like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land, you and all your troops, and many peoples with you.”
Who are these nations?
Magog - Includes Russia and its allies around the Caspian Sea (think Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the other —stan countries)
Persia - For thousands of years, until 1935, Iran was known as Persia. Today it is Russia’s greatest ally and openly finances the enemies of Israel and supplies the missiles that are in the news today.
Ethiopia and Put - Scholars identify these as the North African nations that border Egypt to the south and west. They are known today as Sudan, Ethiopia and Libya.
Gomer - Many scholars identify Gomer as Germany but that is hard to justify. A few ancient historians tell us that Gomer was identified as the Gimmerians who dwelt near Galatia, inside what is now modern day Turkey.
Beth-Togarmah - Armenians and Georgians consider Togarmah to be their founder.
If you are not keeping track, the populations of those combined countries is about 584 million. The population of Israel is currently 9 million.
