The Sunrise

The Sunrise

By Tim Klink of Prison Discipleship Ministry

Psalm 19:1
"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. "

Like many of you, I get up early in the morning to spend time with God in study and prayer. The one window in my study looks to the east, and just at the appointed time, the first hints of light begin to appear. It’s as if Jesus is off in the distance, but He is coming. As I glance out I see more light, but now there is just a small amount of reddish color breaking through the horizon. Jesus is on His way and the first thing He wants me to see and admire is His blood that He shed for me.

As the sunrise continues, the red will spread over the entire sky as Jesus reminds me that His blood is sufficient to cover everyone in His path. The other window in my study faces north, and as the magnificent occasion continues, the light is spread throughout everything that I see. I am so very thankful that there is absolutely nothing that man can produce, or that the enemy of God can prevail with, that will stop the Son from rising.

The light of the morning grows, and soon it engulfs everything I see. Birds begin to stir from their roosts. People scurrying to and fro turn off the headlights in their vehicles because the light they produce is no longer needed. The light of the sun has arrived. Soon the activity of the day is in full swing, all because there is light.

Then the sun appears in all of it’s glory and light. Every hint of darkness is overpowered and the magnificence of the light is too bright to look upon directly. Not only is there light, but also lifegiving warmth which brings comfort to the body and soul. All of God’s creation basks and functions in the presence of the sun. God’s unstoppable plan is fully underway within His love and direction.
