What Is God To You?

1 Corinthians 2:16
"For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ."
What comes to mind when you think of God? Is God holy and just? Is God a person or a thing? Is God loving and caring or is He an angry Judge who wants to punish mankind?
Is God knowable? Can we relate to Him? We can learn a lot about ourselves based on what we think about God. In 1961, AW Tozer wrote a great book titled "A Knowledge Of The Holy." In that book, he wrote the following:
"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us."
He goes on to explain that no nation ever rises above its religion and no religion has ever been greater than its idea of God. So, what the church preaches about God is a big factor in how great a nation will be.
We now live in a nation that has a very small idea of God. When we watch the news, all we hear about is angry cities, political disfunction, violence, crime, addictions and confused and broken families. Those of us who call the church our home know that these things are not unrelated to our idea of who God is.
Our nation has rejected the idea of a God with high standards of right and wrong or a God who cares about what is good and who loves us. The “god” that our culture believes in is disengaged and just sits back and nods tolerantl
