WISDOM - 20 Amazing Bible Words To Know: (SOPHIA) Part 1
Perhaps one of the greatest benefits of living your life in Christ is that you begin to see the world differently. What used to be dark is illuminated and we who once saw the world through the dark lens of humanity have our eyes opened. We begin to see the world the way God sees it. The Bible calls this new insight “Wisdom that is from above”. The Greek word for wisdom is “sophia”.
Wisdom is not knowledge or science. Nor is it information or intelligence. Wisdom is where all those things come together to become meaningful. Wisdom is where we learn not just how the world works but how we live in it.
The Christian understands the world because the believer has access to the Creator of it all. The veil of darkness is removed and the Light of the World illuminates things. This great Light is Jesus. The Bible said this about the world when Jesus would arrive:
“The people who walk in darkness will see a great Light; Those who live in a dark land, the Light will shine on them.”
And the Gospel of John clarifies:
John 1:4-5, 9
“In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it” … “There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.”
“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.’”
Proverbs 3 pleads with us to get wisdom above all else; to pursue it, in fact. So, how do we do that? Well, let’s spend a couple of days finding out, shall we?
