WISDOM - 20 Amazing Bible Words To Know: (SOPHIA) Part 3
The wisdom of the world is built on human hearts and minds. While our thoughts and emotions may be sincere and pensive, they are ultimately unreliable. Why? Because they are the products of a sinful, broken world.
Jeremiah 17:9-10
“The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; Who can understand it? “I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds.”
Our hearts and minds are impacted by eyes that haven’t been illuminated to the truth about God. You see, you can’t be right about how the world works if you don’t understand who God is. No matter how much data, knowledge and information you have, if you are wrong about God you are always proceeding from a false understanding of reality. The book of James tells us this:
James 3:14-16
“If you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.”
The Wisdom of God is always good and perfect and it is never wrong. Godly wisdom is not just a good quality, it is a virtue that is wrapped up in justice, goodness and truth. James says of this heavenly wisdom:
James 3:17-18
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”
